The Symposium on the Canadian Defence and Security market is an initiative of Canada Economic Development  for Quebec Regions, organized in partnership with Aéro Montréal and Sous-Traitance Industrielle Québec (STIQ).  The event aims to bring together key players from the defence and security industry in Canada and abroad.

The day-long event will include:

  • breakfast;
  • workshops and plenary sessions with high-level keynote speakers;
  • luncheon with a keynote speaker;
  • B2B and B2G (business to government) meetings focused on Industrial and Technological Benefits between Canadian and international OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers and Quebec SMEs.


OBJECTIVES OF THE EVENT

  • To make participants aware of strategic issues and global trends in the defence and security industry with regard to the development of value chains, advanced manufacturing, innovation and R&D and the emergence of unmanned systems;
  • Provide participants with a better understanding of the roles of the federal ministries involved in defence and security market (Department of National Defence, the Canadian Armed Forces, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada, Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, Industry Canada , Public Works and Government Services Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard, the
  • To make Quebec SMEs aware of business and market development opportunities related to Government of Canada defence and security procurement projects and the Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy ;
  • To discuss the characteristics of the defence and security market, the practical aspects of market development and the best strategies for participating in Request for proposals for major procurement programs;
  • To enable SMEs to present their capabilities and expertise to Canadian and international Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs;


This event aims to position Quebec, its businesses and its research centers in the forefront of defence and security business opportunities.
