February 17, 2016 - ORDER OF 75 CS300 AIRCRAFT BY AIR CANADA

A positive impact for the Québec aerospace supply chain

Montréal, February 17, 2016 — Aéro Montréal, Québec's aerospace cluster, is delighted with Bombardier’s announcement regarding the sale of 45 CS300 aircraft with options for 30 additional CS300 aircraft by Air Canada. This new order will have a positive impact for the entire Québec aerospace supply chain

“Bombardier is a Canadian flagship and this morning’s announcement will ensure the company has a global presence not only on the European and Asian markets but now in North America,” says Suzanne Benoît, President of Aéro Montreal. “The Government of Canada is currently evaluating its participation in the CSeries program. This is a crucial step for the company’s prosperity as well as for the Canadian and Québec economies. The Québec government’s investment and the Air Canada order have already contributed greatly to bolstering investor confidence in the company.”

Bombardier also announced a reduction of its worldwide workforce. This reduction will be partly offset by hiring in some growing areas, including to support the acceleration of strategic programs and projects worldwide, such as the CSeries.

“Québec has nearly 42,000 employees in aerospace and more than 200 SMEs. These companies are currently looking for skilled employees at all levels. During the recruitment event held on February 11, we had over 200 job postings available in aerospace. We should not overlook the importance of SMEs and integrators and the many contracts that have recently been won by these companies in recent times,” concluded Ms. Benoît.
