Alta Précision wins the Prix Gilles-Demers

Best contribution to the development of the aerospace industry

Montréal, October 4, 2014 – Aéro Montréal, Québec’s aerospace cluster, presented the Prix Gilles-Demers to Alta Précision at a gala held Friday, October 3 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Alta Précision was recognized for its leadership in business development having a significant impact on the Québec aerospace market.

The five criteria for winning the award were:

- Economic contribution,

- Regional collaboration,

- Branding and social engagement,

- The development of products/processes/technology/intellectual property,

- Global footprint and international investment.

Alta Précision’s contribution in promoting Québec’s aerospace industry is demonstrated by its development initiatives abroad. This international component is critical to develop the reputation of our industry. This company has diversified its customer base while specializing its product and services offering, another determining factor for the jury. Finally, Alta Précision’s involvement in the community and its ability to share knowledge with the entire industry was also a consideration. Every SME should take its potential into account and share elements of its expertise with other players in the industry so that the entire industry emerges as a winner.

“All of us at Aéro Montréal are extremely proud to have rewarded a company like Alta Précision,” says Suzanne Benoît, President of Aéro Montréal. “The company is an example to follow in terms of contributing to the promotion of our industry beyond the borders of the province but also in terms of knowledge sharing. I want to acknowledge the hard work of all the company candidates and of course congratulate the two other finalists: RTI Claro Inc. and Marinvent Corporation.”

In addition to gaining high visibility at the gala, Alta Précision was awarded the equivalent of $25,000 in consulting services from the contest’s strategic and creative partners, Proulx communications and Seefeld Group.

“This is a great day for our company,” says Guillermo Alonso, President of Alta Précision. “I want to thank all my employees who, through their drive and motivation, have allowed us to obtain these results for over 30 years. The expertise that we have, in Québec, in the aerospace industry is a significant asset. The quality of our SMEs, together with working together as a team, are the keys of our success.”

The award event was attended by over 240 professionals from the aerospace sector. Major industry players and many educational institutions attended the gala.

The Prix Gilles-Demers was named in honour of the Québec businessman of the same name who was highly respected in the community. Gilles Demers, a man of excellence and a true builder of our industry in Québec, firmly believed that the development of a strong industry in Québec depends on the ability of companies to join forces to offer “the best.”
