AÉRO MONTRÉAL FORGES CLOSER TIES WITH THE BASQUE COUNTRY - Signature of an agreement with HEGAN

Le Bourget (France), June 16, 2015 – Aéro Montréal, Québec’s aerospace cluster, signed a framework agreement on collaboration with HEGAN, the Basque Aerospace Cluster, during the Paris Air Show (Salon international de l’aéronautique et de l’espace Paris - Le Bourget). This agreement aims to initiate a special relationship between the two aerospace clusters, increase exchanges of information on innovation and optimization of the supply chain, and promote international monitoring

Aéro Montréal President Suzanne M. Benoît, applauded the initiative, saying it will provide major opportunities for Québec's aerospace industry, particularly with respect to the potential development of the MACH Initiative in the Basque region.

"Entering into strategic alliances in an industry where competition is very significant is a necessity to help our SMEs to grow internationally," said Ms. Benoît. "This agreement will allow our members to expand their business potential but also to learn about the best practices of their peers. The objective is to develop a truly collaborative culture between our industrial communities."

“One of the challenges of our sector is to continue to improve our competitiveness and ensure the long-term market positioning of our companies. Consequently, it is essential to maintain our leadership in technology and innovation and develop all the links of the value chain," said José Juez Langara, Director of the Basque Aerospace Cluster. "The reinforcement of the value chain of each aircraft is based on the strengthening of relations among people and among organizations. Thus, with the signing of this agreement with Aéro Montréal, in which we commit to strengthen our respective value chains in terms of collaboration, we want to show that cooperation is a competitive advantage and that it is possible.”

Generally speaking, this agreement involves the exchange of information on the needs and expectations of members of both organizations. It also provides for potential business development events to be held in the Basque Country and Québec.

Aéro Montréal has signed three strategic collaboration agreements during the Paris Air Show. The others are an agreement with HÉLICE, the Andalusian aerospace cluster, and OAC, Ontario's aerospace cluster.
