Aéro Montréal's Annual General Meeting
Positive results for 2014 and announcement of companies in the 4th cohort of the MACH Initiative
Montréal, April 13, 2015 – Aéro Montréal, Québec's aerospace cluster, reported positive results for the year 2014 during its annual general meeting today at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The event was attended by over 200 key industry representatives as well as Saul Polo, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Exports.
"The aerospace industry is currently facing significant challenges here and internationally," noted Maria Della Posta, Chair of Aéro Montréal's Board of Directors and Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, at Pratt & Whitney Canada. "Our members are working hard to maintain their leadership and remain competitive in their respective market segments. We stayed the course during the past year with the announcement of major contracts, the establishment of strategic alliances and promising projects for the future, the unveiling of investments in research and development, and the implementation of new manufacturing technologies."
In 2014, many industry members participated actively in Aéro Montréal's six working groups, helping to advance several business priorities. "I am particularly proud of the accomplishments of Aéro Montréal in 2014," said Suzanne Benoît, President of the cluster. "All the projects undertaken by each of the working groups moved forward and generated excellent results."
One of the aerospace cluster's major projects, the SA2GE greener aircraft catalyst project, saw its Phase 1 end on March 31. "Mobilization was a key success factor in this initiative; 25 SMEs, 4 research centres, 5 universities and 130 students were involved in Phase 1 and played a crucial role in the development of new technologies," said Ms. Benoît.
10 new suppliers in MACH
Efforts continued to enhance the performance of members of Québec's supply chain and bring them to a world-class level. The names of the 10 suppliers making up the 4th cohort of the MACH Initiative were unveiled today, along with their sponsors. They bring to 50 the number of SMEs now engaged in MACH.
