Aéro Montréal welcomes the government’s commitment reaffirming its support for the aerospace industry

QUEBEC CITY, March 25, 2021 /CNW Telbec/ – Aéro Montréal welcomes the Government of Quebec’s commitment to supporting the strategic aerospace sector through the renewal of a dedicated strategy tailored to the needs of the ecosystem, one that will foster a green and sustainable recovery.

An updated Quebec Aerospace Strategy tailored to the needs of the sector

As part of the March 2021 Budget Plan – For a Resilient and Confident Quebec, the government announced an envelope of $95 million over three years to renew the financial framework of the 2016–2026 Quebec Aerospace Strategy. Developed in collaboration with Aéro Montréal and ecosystem stakeholders, this initiative will undoubtedly accelerate the industry’s green transition, its diversification toward new products and processes, and the strengthening of value chains to make them more competitive internationally.

Strong support for SMEs and significant backing for innovation development

By reducing the tax burden on Quebec SMEs, the government reaffirms its support for one of the key links in the supply chain across many sectors, including aerospace.

Finally, by creating fertile ground for the adoption and creation of new technologies, the government is ensuring the competitiveness of businesses and their visibility on the international stage, thereby contributing to the long-term growth of the economy.

Aéro Montréal commends the work undertaken by the Government of Quebec to adapt the Quebec Aerospace Strategy and reflect the challenges faced by the industry. By encouraging the development of new innovations, the government is ensuring that Quebec’s aerospace industry is equipped to become a leading player in the fight against climate change,” said Suzanne M. Benoît, President and CEO of Aéro Montréal.
