MRO, a strategic pillar of Quebec aerospace

 

The MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) sector occupies a strategic place within Quebec’s aerospace ecosystem. Bringing together major contractors and a dynamic network of specialized SMEs, it ensures aircraft reliability, supports airline competitiveness, and contributes directly to Quebec’s international influence.

 

Created in 2019, this Aéro Montréal working group is the first sectoral collaboration forum dedicated to MRO. It enables companies to exchange on common challenges, develop synergies, and position Quebec expertise in global markets.

Objectives of the Working Group

Strengthen international positioning

Of Quebec’s MRO sector in an increasingly competitive context.

Ensure attractiveness

Of the sector to draw talent and investments.

Of local companies through cooperation between large organizations and SMEs.

In a rapidly transforming market — shaped by sustainable transition, digitization, and evolving business models — the MRO Working Group acts as a catalyst for growth and innovation.

 

Large industry players work alongside SMEs to:

  • Consolidate their capacities,
  • Accelerate their integration into international value chains,
  • Maximize economic benefits for Quebec.

Strategic discussions launched since 2022 have already laid solid foundations. The coming years promise progress through concerted actions to stimulate innovation, strengthen partnerships, and ensure the sustainability of Quebec’s MRO expertise.
